Boat Pressure Washing
This service supports your vessel's needs at Granville Island Boatyard. Whether you're planning maintenance, repairs, or seasonal work, we're here to help you move forward with confidence.

Boat Pressure Washing
Boat pressure washing is an important part of regular vessel maintenance. For most boats, hull pressure washing should be done at least once per year. Racing vessels, heavily used boats, or vessels with faster marine growth may need to be cleaned more often.
Granville Island Boatyard provides professional boat pressure washing using our dedicated washing system and experienced staff. Whether your vessel is coming out of the water for maintenance, inspection, bottom work, or seasonal service, our team can help clean the hull safely and efficiently.
Professional Boat Pressure Washing
Our staff is experienced in cleaning boat hulls and removing common marine buildup from below the waterline. A proper pressure wash helps prepare your vessel for inspection, maintenance, painting, antifouling, or other boatyard work.
Pressure washing is often completed as part of a haul-out service, allowing the hull to be cleaned shortly after the boat is lifted from the water.
Planning to Pressure Wash Your Own Boat?
High-pressure water can be dangerous. A pressure washer can cut like a knife, so it is important to protect yourself, your crew, and your vessel before beginning.
Before pressure washing, make sure to:
- Ensure all windows and hatches are closed and properly sealed
- Ensure all water drains on the boat are open
- Remove anything you do not want to get wet, such as outdoor carpets or loose items
- Have a way to remove excess water before you begin
- Keep the work area clean so dirt is not tracked back onto the boat
- Start at the highest point of the hull being cleaned
- Work in small 3 to 4 foot sections
- Keep the nozzle perpendicular to the surface for best results
- Direct the spray at 90 degrees to the area being cleaned
- Follow the recommended dwell time for any approved cleaning agents
- Wash dock lines with plenty of water and no detergents
- Clean topsides last
- If your boat has waterways, remove the plugs to drain excess water
- Use a squeegee and absorber to dry surfaces
- Clean windows separately using the appropriate solution
Environmental Protection
All wash water must be directed into the boatyard drainage system. Do not allow wash water to spill over the seawall.
Granville Island Boatyard’s wash-down area is designed so water can pass through our environmental protection system. This helps keep boat maintenance work organized, compliant, and responsible.
